Views of the Sun's Southern Hemisphere on August 2, 2012

BobAnnMcGovern's picture

The sun has been pretty active for the last few months and, hopefully, will continue to be for the next year or so. The attached 2 images are of the sun's southern hemisphere on August 2nd and show the large but simple sunspot groups, from east to west, numbers 1538, 1532 and 1530. They are moving from east to west with the sun's rotation and should be visible for the next few days. The images were taken with a 60mm hydrogen alpha filter set at f/20, stacked in Registax and finished up in PhotoShop. The camera is a color DBK video camera from Imaging Source.
